What does Mum’s Help Actually Do?

Spoiler: It’s a lot more than tidying up.

When people first hear about Mum’s Help, they often ask:

  • “So… are you a cleaner?”

  • “Is it childcare?”

  • “Do you just come and do chores?”

The truth? I’m none of those things exactly — but we are a whole lot more.

Mum’s Help is a flexible, personal support service for mums who are doing too much, with too little time, and not enough backup.

If you’ve ever found yourself staring at a chaotic home and wondering how on earth you're supposed to get through the week, you’re not alone. That feeling — the one where everything feels urgent and nothing feels manageable — is exactly why Mum's Help exists.

We Get it

We created Mum’s Help because we saw a gap. So many mums don’t need a full-time nanny, a fortnightly cleaner, or a babysitter. What they actually need is someone who can come in for a couple of hours, notice what’s not working, and help fix it without them needing to explain everything.

They need help from someone who understands the mental load. Someone who can sense when you're on the edge of tears but still manage a kind smile. Someone who won’t judge you for the laundry pile or the dishes or the forgotten appointment. Someone who says, "I've got you," and means it.

Mum’s Help is about that.

So What Does Mum’s Help Actually Do?

Every visit is different. Some mums will book weekly, others as and when they’re feeling overwhelmed. We adapt to what the household needs, and that’s often different every time. But here’s a deeper dive into what the work can involve:

Tidy-Ups and Room Resets

Not just surface-level cleaning — we’re talking about putting rooms back into a usable state. Clearing clutter from surfaces, folding blankets, putting away toys, fluffing cushions, opening the windows (noticing the sticky finger marks on them and wiping them off), resetting the energy. It’s the kind of tidy that makes you feel like you can breathe again.

Laundry Folding and Bedroom Help

We will help fold the washing, put it away, change the beds if needed, and even tackle those rogue socks. It’s the kind of job that gets left last because it’s no one’s favourite, but it makes a huge difference to how the house feels.

Light Cleaning

Wiping down surfaces, loading and unloading the dishwasher, sweeping floors, emptying bins. We aim to leave the home feeling fresher and calmer.

Toy Sorting and Playroom Organisation

Ever feel like the toys have taken over? We can help sort, rotate, tidy and organise play areas so they’re less chaotic and more functional.

Decluttering and Cupboard Clearing

Got that one drawer or cupboard you’ve been avoiding for weeks (or months)? We can help go through it with you, sort what’s needed, donate what’s not, and help you reclaim your space.

Life Admin Support

Need someone to post returns, drop off dry cleaning, or wait in for a parcel while you do the school run or just rest? We’ve got it covered. We can also help organise paperwork, file things, and manage some of that unseen clutter.

Calm Company When You're Overwhelmed

Sometimes, it is less about the tasks and more about simply being there. Having someone calm, capable, and kind in the house makes a difference. We might chat while we tidy, or you might take a nap while we get things done. Either way, it’s about bringing a sense of calm into your day.

It’s Not Just About Tasks — It’s About Relief

Many mums say to me, “I just needed someone else to come in and help carry it for a bit.” And that’s what I do. I carry it with you.

I’m not here to judge. I’m here to help you feel less alone in your home and in your head.

Is Mum’s Help Right for You?

If you’ve ever said:

  • “I’m drowning in mess.”

  • “I just need to catch up.”

  • “I wish someone could just come and help.”

...then yes. It’s for you.

Whether you’re a professional mum working long hours, a single parent doing it all, or just someone having a tough week — you don’t need to do it alone.

Let’s make things feel manageable again.
